Project Lead - Retail Loan Automatization

As the Project Lead, you will be responsible for planning and overseeing the project’s execution, bringing your specialized expertise to the table. This role demands strong leadership, financial technology proficiency, and a customer-centric approach.

Scope of work

The Project Lead is responsible for:

Project planning & execution:

  • Create a detailed project plan, outlining timelines and resources to ensure timely implementation of the digital systems to process retail loans.
  • Lead the design, development and implementation of an improved loan origination process.
  • Provide monthly reports to senior management on the progress of the project, including risks, roadblocks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Manage the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), consisting of IT, several front facing and back-office departments, the IT development department and external IT development partners to ensure effective project execution.

Loan origination process redesign

  • Redesign the existing loan origination process (loan applications, underwriting, approvals and disbursements).
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of the loan process.
  • Ensure that the redesigned process and supporting tools have adequate controls in place to maintain segregation of duties, data privacy, confidentiality, auditability, and availability in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Finabank policies, including those related to information security.

Developing and implementing loan origination process automation

  • Write user stories, requirements, process flows and documented loan approval decision criteria, to be used as input for automating the loan origination process
  • Ensure the supporting software is developed according to the requirements
  • Test the automation to confirm it meets the specific requirements.
  • Identify, document, and resolve bugs or issues.
  • Coordinate with relevant Finabank users/departments to perform User Acceptance Testing, including testing of information security controls.

Change management:

  • Create and implement change management strategies to ensure successful adoption of new processes and systems by staff.
  • Conduct training sessions and develop user manuals for internal teams to facilitate the transition to the new loan origination system.

Deliverables

  • A detailed project plan, with specific milestones and timelines.
  • An automation blueprint documenting the automated processes in our CRM system for each retail loan product.
  • A risk assessment report that includes risks identified and mitigations planned for any risks that exceed the Finabank risk appetite.
  • An operational CRM retail loan application integrated with existing systems.
  • Monthly progress reports to distributed to the MDT and senior management.
  • Comprehensive user training materials and manuals.
  • A post-implementation review report including lessons learned.

Skills and qualifications

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in project management, digital transformation, or financial services, with a focus on personal loans or consumer lending.
  • Experience in driving organizational change, including training, communication, and agile software development and user adoption of new technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience in retail banking and loan products.
  • Understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning models for automating processes like credit scoring, fraud detection and risk analysis.
  • Understanding of information security at level 3 or above as defined by SFIA (Skills Framework for the Information Age)

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the retail loan sector and financial regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data for decision-making.
  • Strong leadership skills to inspire and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in managing projects using lean or agile methodologies
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into business-friendly language.
